Mai Chau is the heart of a beautiful valley and is a world away from the hustle of Hanoi. The modern village is an unappealing sprawl, but as you immerse on the rice fields and rural living, it turns out to be a real paradise. This stunning area is home of White Thai ethnic group, distantly related to tribes in Thailand, Laos and China.
Although most local no longer wear traditional dress, the Thai women are the masterful weavers who ensure that there is plenty of traditional – style clothing to buy in the village centre. You will see women weaving on looms under or inside their houses when wandering around the village. Much of the silk looks similar to that seen in Laos. The Thai people of Mai Chau are less likely to employ strong-arm sales tactics than their H’mong counterparts in Sapa: Polite bargaining is the norm rather than endless haggling.

Full itinerary
Day 1: Ha Noi capital > Mai Chau
7.30 am: Departure for Mai Chau. On the way to Mai Chau, stop and take a Visit to Hang Pagoda (Ancient Cave pagoda) to enjoy a peaceful scenario and get a more understanding of the most popular religion - Buddismn. Then, visiting a Muong ethnic minority village to see stilt-house and their lives.
12.30 am: Have a lunch at restaurant.
1.30 pm: Continue driving to MalChau. Spend time to go shopping around Lac Village and walking throughout some White Thai villages to see people making traditional dress and stools.
7.00 pm: Have a diner.
Overnight at stilt house in Lac village (Mai Chau guesthouse).
Day 2: Mai Chau > Ha Noi capital
After breakfast, take a short walk to the Muong minority village. Walking through plum & peach gardens to contemplate peaceful scenery.
12.30 am: Enjoy lunch at village and then back on car for returning to Ha Noi.
Return to Hanoi Noi at 5.30 pm.
