Ha Dong silk village is also known as Van Phuc silk village, Van Phuc Ward, Ha Dong district, about 10 km from Hanoi center. Famous for weaving in thousand years old, Van Phuc silk captivates travelers with many unique patterns and the most longstanding in Vietnam.
In particular, the traditional silk which are woven from natural materials, giving a soft, smooth, and delicate, but nowhere has it. For that reason, Ha Dong silk was chosen as the material for national uniform under the Nguyen Dynasty.
Small road leads into the tiled display traditional silk products. On the left, near the entrance is a wooden loom from the beginning of the 19th century. Nowadays, when mechanical looms are increasingly popular, this is one of the few traditional looms left at the village.
In the interior, visitors will discover the sophisticated products from silk, such as towels, dresses, wallets, ... At the same time, you also learn about the process of weaving silk with pattern looms.
Many families in Van Phuc open their own shops on the main road of the village; create a “town of silk” that sell eye-catching and high quality silk products. Tourists may buy available nice souvenir and clothes in the shop, or select the most suitable materials to then get customized products. The sellers are very friendly and can speak a little English and French to communicate to foreign tourists.
