Cat Cat village
Cat Cat village is a Mong ethnic village located 2 km from Sa Pa town (Lao Cai province, Vietnam). This is a tourist attraction of Sa Pa in particular and Lao Cai in general. The village is within easy walking distance from any hotel in downtown Sapa.
Cat Cat cultural village was formed in 19th century by the gathering of some families belonging to some ethnic groups living in mountainous areas of northern Vietnam, especially Black H’Mong.
Cat Cat is attractive to tourists not only by the natural scenery, but also by the traditional cultural characteristics of the Mong ethnic people here. You will be very excited when making yourselves into the gentle dance of the beautiful Mong girls.
Cat Cat village has a lot of traditional handicrafts such as brocade weaving with colorful patterns and the patterns such as plants, leaves, flowers and animals, angular design ... Besides, it can be said that the profession of making silver or bronze jewelry of Cat Cat creates the sophisticated products. Sophisticated and unique products created by the skillful hands of the people here not only bring vitality to the village but also express the culture of the Mong tribe are preserved through generations.
In addition, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy many specialties such as corn wine, win, thắng cố, tiết canh, corn cakes,… Moreover, local people still preserve a lot of unique customs, in which can’t help mentioning is (kéo vợ) "pulling his wife". When a boy falls in love with a girl, he will organize a party to invite his friends to make plans to "pull" the girl home and keep her for three days. Then, if the girl agrees to be his wife, they will perform the official wedding ceremony. If the boy is rejected, they drink a bowl of wine to make friend and everything comes back to normal.
