War Remnant Museum

War Remnant Museum

War Remnants Museum is located at No. 28, Vo Van Tan Street, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City.

It contains exhibits relating to the Vietnam War and the first Indochina War involving the French colonialists. Artifacts such as airplanes, cannons, tanks, guillotines and two “tiger cages were” built in the same size as the Con Dao prison. There are also galleries on: Southwest border war, protection war of Northern border, problem of Truong Sa archipelago, conspiracy of hostile forces …

The museum has booths displaying, introducing US armoured vehicles, artillery pieces, bombs and infantry weapons, ethnic Vietnamese culture products and water puppetry in Vietnam on dispaly outside.

Photo collection "Vietnam - War and Peace" by Japanese photographer - Ishikawa Bunyo made during his time in Vietnam until the end of the war. The collection of more than 250 images of the effects of war on soldiers and civilians is widely considered  as the museum's most impressive exhibit by many people.

Today, the museum expands on display, with themes throughout the history of Vietnam's struggle from the French-Japanese invasion until after the peace era.

A number of unexploded ordnances are stored in the corner of the yard, seemingly with their charges removed. Not only does the museum illustrate a phase of painful history, but it also tells unknown stories about war to people, especially to Westerners. Many preceding travelers have failed to hold their tears in front of the pictures here.

With many authentic images, this is one of the most popular museums in Ho Chi Minh City. The War Remnants Museum is open daily.
