Cat Ba Island-District is an archipelago of up to 367 large and small islands. Cat Ba is the main island of about 100km ², 30 nautical miles from Haiphong port, in the southern part of Ha Long Bay, creating complex islands and caves on the sea to fascinate visitors.
Cat Ba Island is a giant green carpet containing many mystery and attractive things. Cat Ba deserves to be the third biosphere reserve in Vietnam and now, it was recognized by UNESCO as the World Biosphere Reserve.
Visiting the popular beaches of Cat Co and Cat Dua, one can enjoy the blue and warm water, and so clear that he or she can see the golden sand beneath. If you prefer something more quiet and calm, you can hire a motor boat or kayak to sail to the small islets, where there Cat Trai Gai, Duong Gianh and Hien Hao beaches are located.
You can even go to Ha Long Bay, it takes only from 4 to 6 hours to spoil the scenery and visit unnamed beaches, interesting caves which have not included in the list of exploits yet. The mountain adjacent to Cat Co Beach has a tunnel and several fascinating caves and grottoes, such as Hang Luon, Khe Sau, Trung Trang, Gia Luan and Kim Cuong which promise many interesting discoveries.
Coming out of the caves and grottoes in late afternoon, you will be thrilled by the sunset over Lan Ha Bay. Located in the south of Ha Long Bay, Lan Ha has many similarities with the world natural heritage since the surrounding is rocky mountains and islands. From the boat, visitors will easily recognize the strange shape of the mountains are people named as Guoc Islet, Tortoise islet... If you want to get the full experience of the bay, you can rent a kayak to get closer to the limestone islands and caves hiding in the rocky mountains.
