Tan Vien Son Pagoda, located on a favorable position of Ba Vi (three mountain) includes many architectural constructions, each construction plays a different function in a pretty complete Buddhism complex which is to serve the spiritual needs of the people.
Tan Vien Son is an ancient pagoda founded long time ago, placed in the west slope of Ba Vi mountain, Minh Quang commune, Ba Vi district, Ha Noi. Formerly, the pagoda was just a little hermitage erected to worship Buddha God. Under the Ly Dynasty, the hermitage was upgraded to the pagoda, but to the Post-Le Dynasty, it was deteriorated heavily and became a ruin, until the late 17th century - during the Nguyen Dynasty, the pagoda was reconstructed in a new location.
With a total planned area of over 20,000m2, Tan Vien Pagoda was built to the architecture of "Noi Cong Ngoai Quoc" (the style of two long corridors linking the forecourt at the front with the rear halls), with Ta Vu (House for civil mandarin), Huu Vu (House for military mandarin), sanctuary, rear halls... and internal sections . Tan Vien pagoda is the place for research, academic, legal and administrative practice and also the religious center for Buddhists and national citizens..
