CatBa National Park is a special-use forest of Vietnam, a biosphere reserve of the world. Cat Ba National Park is in Cat Hai district, Hai Phong city.

Cat Ba is one of the big islands in Hai Phong. Cat Ba tourism is an interesting place to relaxation and leisure when visiting Vietnam. Cat Ba has been recognized as a biosphere reserve by UNESCO as a driving force for economic development, tourism, aquaculture, fisheries and research.

The forest here has a main type is evergreen rainforest, but due to the topography, land and water conditions, there are some types of secondary forests: limestone forest, mangrove forest around the island, flooded freshwater forests in the mountains.

The plant composition is 741 different species, 20 species of mammals, 69 species of birds, 20 species of reptiles and amphibians, 11 species of frogs, many types of precious wood such as “trai lý, lát hoa, lim xẹt, dẻ hoa, kim giao, gõ trắng, chò đãi” which only have in Himalaya. 23 species of mangroves, 75 species of seaweed, 199 species of phytoplankton.

From the Catba national park center, you can come to visit some places nearby like Trung Trang cave, Hospital cave, village garden or you go futher to Cat Ba town to visit Cat Ba market, Cat Ba Canon Fort.
