Museum of Ethnology
The Museum of Ethnology is the most recent yet probably the largest and undoubtedly the most interesting Museums in Hanoi and Vietnam.
Museum of Ethnology is located on Nguyen Van Huyen Street, Cau Giay District, Hanoi. On November 12, the Museum of Ethnology was inaugurated.
In recent years, the Museum of Ethnology has become an attractive destination not only for domestic but also for international travelers because when visiting the museum, visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the history and culture of the 54 ethnic minority groups in Vietnam with their own variety of cultural features (documents, artifacts of daily life, culture, customs and traditions).
The museum is divided into three main galleries: Exhibition in the Bronze Drum Hall, outdoor display area and Southeast Asia exhibition area. With 15,000 artifacts, 42,000 films and color photos, 2190 positive films, 273 audio tapes, music, 373 video tapes and 25 CD-Roms, the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology is an attractive place for visiting and explore the Vietnamese culture. It’s a place that lots of demonstrations of handicraft and folk cultural performances in Vietnam, Southeast Asia and other parts of the world.
The museum is especially a great choice for those who cannot find time to visit all remote areas where live the majority of Vietnam ethnic minorities.
